On the afternoon of July 14, Professor Barnabas, Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Uganda's largest and Africa's third largest University, signed a MOU with Mr. Tan Jiuchang, General Manager of China Liaoning Hongda Enterprise Group, witnessed by many local officials and media.

The signing of the MOU makes Wagagai Mining (U) Limited, a subsidiary of China Liaoning Hongda Enterprise Group, officially become an internship, research, training and employment base for African graduates. This is another outstanding contribution made by the company to Uganda's education after donating classrooms to the Confucius Institute at Makerere University this spring.

Before the signing, Prof. Barnabas, Dr. Gilbert, Ugandan dean of the Confucius Institute, Ms. Xia Zhuoqiong, Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute, and well-known local media reporters, accompanied by General Manager Mr. Tan and relevant persons in charge of Wagagai Mining, visited the Busia Gold Mine.

During the period, Prof. Barnabas had a cordial conversation with several graduates of Makerere University who were employed in the Busia Gold Mine, and asked about their employment feelings. The graduates said they were very satisfied.

During the signing, General Manager Mr. Tan pointed out that the equipment and production process adopted by Wagagai Mining are all world-class, and the degree of mechanization, automation and intelligence is very high, which can not only improve work efficiency, but also bring great security to employees. Wagagai Mining welcomes graduates of Makerere University to come to practice and receive skills training, and give priority to hiring qualified students to work in the Gold Mine.

Prof. Barnabas was full of expectations for the development prospects of Wagagai Mining, expressed his admiration for the Group company's contribution to Uganda’s education, and promised to fulfill the obligations of the MOU and actively train and offer graduates for the company.

In the evening, the two sides had a dinner to celebrate the successful signing of the MOU.
