At 11:00 a.m. on August 23, 2022, Wagagai Mining (U) Limited held a grand handover ceremony for the church donated by it in Alupe village, Busia.

Mr. Liu Liang, Outreach Manager of Wagagai Mining, and Ms. Wang Qifan, Assistant General Manager, attended and delivered speeches.

On that day, everyone in Alupe village wore costumes. First of all, they performed joyful and grand folk dances, choir singing, scripture readings and other performances, and also held Catholic ceremony.

Afterwards, Mr. Liu Liang from Wagagai Mining graciously handed over the church keys to the archbishop and the church administrator in the witness of the head of Alupe village, the delegation of regional bishops, church administrators and more than 300 villagers. It means that Alupe village would officially run the church, and the congregation cheered and celebrated.

At present, Uganda is in the rainy season. In order to facilitate the villagers in Alupe village to worship, hold weddings, religious festivals and other important activities, the project department of Wagagai Mining spent more than a month to build a Catholic church for it and provided 50 chair for free, also also handed out candies at the ceremony to celebrate.The church, named St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Arupe Village, covers an area of 200 square meters. The church is spacious, bright and elegant, and can accommodate 300 people at the same time and is very popular among the local villagers.
